Maritime Path – Acrylic on Canvas

This painting was inspired by a photo that I took on a trip to Jekyll Island. It was over Christmas, so the season was winter, but the wonderful maritime forest in this state park is lush all year long. A photo could not possibly capture the immense beauty of this place. In my painting I have used vibrant colors and energetic, lose knife strokes to try to capture the feeling of actually being there and walking down this path. I created a stop motion of this painting being painted.

I painted this wooded landscape primarily using a palette knife. This painting is 18″x24″ acrylic on canvas. I personally stretch each of my canvases by hand. It is a gallery wrapped canvas with the 1 1/2″ deep edges painting dark. The wire hanger at the back makes the piece easy to hang, and it hangs flush with the wall.  No framing is necessary.
